Centenary Celebrations

Consecration of the Church of St Francis de Sales and St Gertrude on 19 November

This was the high point of our centenary celebrations, when the Church was consecrated one hundred years after it was built. His Grace,Michael Bowen, Archbishop of the RC Diocese of Southwark led the celebration assisted by 18 priests who have served or supported this parish over many years. In a moving ceremony the choir accompanied the liturgy, while members of the congregation brought gifts to the new altar representing the diversity of cultures in our community.

We invited all current and former parishioners to join us on this special day and were glad to welcome the Member of Parliament for Lambeth, Kate Hoey, the Deputy Mayor of Lambeth and local councillors.

The church hall is the venue for displays of photographs telling the history of St Francis de Sales Church, and of our parishioners.
